Tyre Awareness
One must be aware of whether one's tyres are roadworthy or not. Tyre care is an obvious must, however it is often overlooked until one observes a car slipping and sliding along the roadway -not because the road is slick but solely attributed to the poor condition of their tires.Today this writer will share tyre awareness tips.
* Check whether you are placing yourself in danger of an accident and avoid it by taking a coin placing between the center tread. If one can see the number on the coin then replace the tyre. The base on the number is 2mm and the minimum for replacement is 1.5mm. The deeper the tread the safer the tyre.
* Check for bulges, cracks, or anything like a sharp object stuck in the tyres. If any of these are present get the tyre professionally checked.
* Look for built in tread indicators that are on most tyres to evaluate ware on tyre.
* Check the tyre pressure, because they normally lose pressure with use. Go to a gas station/ buy an air pump to ensure the tyres are properly inflated. Under inflation causes cracks, blowouts, loss of control of the vehicle, and excess fuel use from increased rolling resistance.
Note if one has purchased an imported vehicle at a Roll On, Roll Off dealership, the snow tyres they come with should be replaced with tyres that are suitable for the roads in Trinidad and Tobago or where ever one resides. That also includes the spare tyre!
Take a few minutes to check your tyres today!
