Lighter Wheels

Lighter Wheels

Following the last post on Trendy Wheels, this writer came across some interesting developments with regard to wheels being made lighter.

Lightweight Wheels

In addition to the color and concave trends there is also a continued effort to make wheels as lightweight as possible. This is done by cutting the mass out without damaging the structural integrity.

Steel and aluminum aftermarket wheels dominate the market.
The carbon fiber and magnesium offerings represent a very small percentage of wheel offerings.

Centre Lock Wheels

There is a growing market however for “centre lock wheels”. There are bolt on adaptors for centre lock wheels as well as conversion kits for these. This writer is quite intrigued by the centre lock wheel's neatness and simplicity. Functionality, is another factor that the experts can weigh in on.

What do you think about making wheels lightweight?
How would you weigh in on Centre Lock Wheels vs. 5 Bolt Wheels?

  1. Hi guys, I am getting my new Mercedes soon, and guess what, I am using Vossen rims that are 10ins at the rear and 9 ins in the front, These concave rims are ideal for these Euro cars.
